Face-off
Starts/re-starts the game after a goal, or start a quarter. One person from each team meets in the middle of the field and tries to scoop up the ball, or pass it/flick it to a teammate.

Merritt Island Lacrosse Girls Team
The girls lacrosse game is played with 12 players on the field from each team, and instead of face-offs, they have a "draw" to start/restart the game.

What's New
All practices for boys and girls lacrosse will now be at Jefferson Middle School, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm - dark, and Saturday mornings from 10-12pm(or at the schedule game time/place). Please note the time change to 6pm during the weekdays in order to take advantage of daylight hours.
Registration for the season is still open - we are recruiting for all ages, boys and girls, from 1st-8th grade.
News/Updates
- Keep improving skills for the girls by enrolling in the Summer Lacrosse League held at Jefferson Middle School. Information is here and registration will be online shortly. This is a great opportunity for the Merritt Island Lacrosse Club girls players to learn from experienced coaches. No travel, Saturday games, reasonable cost.
- Follow the link below to a story in the Orlando Sentinel about a local player who picked up lacrosse and is now a top recruit. The story is about a kid who played other sports, but not lacrosse. Then he became a great player with a bright future, just by giving the sport a chance and working hard.

The style of the game is fun. It got me.'' At the time, Lewis had "never seen a lacrosse stick before," Sherene said. He scored four goals in his first game. "I said, 'Why not?', tried it, and here I am today," said Lewis, a senior. Lewis widely is considered one of the top 50 recruits in the nation.
