Welcome to the original American sport.

Lacrosse was discovered over 350 years ago by French explorers when they witnessed games played by the Iroquois Indians in Canada and New York. This game was as much a religious event as a sports event for the original inhabitants of North America. Games often lasted for days. Often, as many as one thousand participants played on a field over a mile long. The game was formalized in the middle to late 19th century and has evolved into the fast and exciting game it is today.

Our Mission:

The mission of the Merritt Island Lacrosse Club is to promote the sport of lacrosse throughout Merritt Island, in Brevard County, Florida. We are committed to fostering the growth of lacrosse at all levels.

Goals include the following:

• Promote lacrosse at community centers and schools in Merritt Island.
• Identify and properly train individuals interested in coaching lacrosse.
• Assist Merritt Island Jays approved coaches with clinics and teams.
• Provide lacrosse equipment (goals, nets, ball, etc.) for clinics and teams.
• Register players in our membership program to allow them to safely participate in clinics and on teams hosted by MILC approved coaches.

The Spring season will have several teams. We will have a 4th through 6th grade team (Juniors) and the Senior team (7th and 8th graders). We will also have a girls team for girls in 4th through 8th grades.

We will have a Boys High School age team as well.

As a member of the Merritt Island Lacrosse Club (MILC) you Must to be enrolled as a US Lacrosse member. In order to sign up with the Merritt Island Lacrosse Club, the US Lacrosse Group # is 2679850. US Lacrosse is the national governing body for youth lacrosse. Our programs and approach to the sport follow the guidelines set forth by US Lacrosse.
