The physical nature of lacrosse requires players to wear a wide assortment of protective gear. To do its job, the equipment must be in good condition, meet appropriate safety standards, and fit the youngsters properly. The following sections examine the different types of equipment used in boys' and girls' lacrosse.
For programs and team membership the player must provide his/her own equipment.
Equipment for male players is as follows:
- Helmet
- Mouth guard
- Lacrosse stick
- Arm guards (black must be the primary color)
- Shoulder pads
- Gloves (black must be the primary color)
- Goalies add throat guard and chest protection.
- Athletic supporter and cup
- Lacrosse cleats or any type of non metal cleats
Equipment for female players is as follows:
- Lacrosse cleats or any type of non metal cleats
- Lacrosse goggles
- Lacrosse stick with head
- Lacrosse ball
- Mouth guard
- lacrosse gloves (optional)
- Goalies add throat guard and chest protection and shin guards
